Al-Fil
The Elephant
1 - Al-Fil (The Elephant) - 001
أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَيۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِأَصۡحَٰبِ ٱلۡفِيلِ
Have you not seen how your Lord dealt with the people of the Elephant[1]?
[1] The army of Abrahah al-Ashram was accompanied by a huge elephant who came with the intention of demolishing the Kaʿba.
2 - Al-Fil (The Elephant) - 002
أَلَمۡ يَجۡعَلۡ كَيۡدَهُمۡ فِي تَضۡلِيلٖ
Did He not turn their scheme into a total loss[2]?
[2] Leading them to perish.
3 - Al-Fil (The Elephant) - 003
وَأَرۡسَلَ عَلَيۡهِمۡ طَيۡرًا أَبَابِيلَ
He sent against them swarms of birds,
4 - Al-Fil (The Elephant) - 004
تَرۡمِيهِم بِحِجَارَةٖ مِّن سِجِّيلٖ
pelting them with stones of baked clay,
5 - Al-Fil (The Elephant) - 005
