و لا تعتدوا.
but transgress not the limits

و لا تعثوا في الأرض مفسدين.
and do not act corruptly, making mischief on the earth

و لا تلبسوا الحق بالباطل
And mix not truth with falsehood

و لا تقف ما ليس لك به علم
And follow not that of which you have no knowledge

و لا تمش في الأرض مرحا
And walk not on the earth with conceit and arrogance

و لا تصعر خدك للناس
And turn not your face away from men with pride

و اخفض جناحك للمؤمنين.
And lower your wings for the believers

و اغضض من صوتك
and lower your voice

و اقصد في مشيك.
And be moderate in your walking

و اعرض عن الجاهلين.
and turn away from the foolish

خذ العفو و أمر بالعرف.
Show forgiveness, enjoin what is good

ادفع بالتي هي أحسن.
Repel (the evil) with one which is better …
