قُلۡ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ ٱلنَّاسِ 1
Say, "I seek refuge in the Lord of mankind,

مَلِكِ ٱلنَّاسِ 2
The Sovereign of mankind,
114:3
إِلَٰهِ ٱلنَّاسِ 3
The God of mankind,
114:4
مِن شَرِّ ٱلۡوَسۡوَاسِ ٱلۡخَنَّاسِ 4
From the evil of the retreating whisperer[2016] -
Translation notes
[2016] i.e., a devil who makes evil suggestions to man but disappears when one remembers Allāh.
114:5
ٱلَّذِي يُوَسۡوِسُ فِي صُدُورِ ٱلنَّاسِ 5
Who whispers [evil] into the breasts of mankind -
114:6
مِنَ ٱلۡجِنَّةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ 6
From among the jinn and mankind."[2017]
Translation notes
[2017] Evil prompters may be from men as well as from jinn.
